Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh

I went to Pittsburgh for a wedding which meant it was a great weekend full of old friends. We tacked on a camping trip to round out the weekend and visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water: http://www.fallingwater.org/ which is a really incredible place, if you venture near Pittsburgh, be sure to visit.

EXPERIENCE

Despite spending most of our time catching up with friends and partaking in wedding festivities, we checked out a few notable attractions including the Andy Warhol Museum http://www.warhol.org/ which did not disappoint. The museum showcases quite a bit of Warhol’s work as well as a great collection that serves as a biography of his life and impact on American culture. Very fun to see lots of photos from his surreal existence full of nearly every thinkable icon and contemporary of his day. Another great activity is taking the cable car up the Duquesne Incline http://www.duquesneincline.org/. This trip is slightly nerve wracking but allows for beautiful views of the city and rivers.

STAY

We stayed at the lovely Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh and really enjoyed it: http://www.omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/PittsburghWilliamPenn.aspx

EAT

Since we were in town briefly and with a wedding we ate what we were served and did not explore the culinary aspects of the city too much. Would love some suggestions though for my next visit.
