Milwaukee

Milwaukee

Growing up in Milwaukee, I have lots of love for this city, which keeps getting better and better each time I go. Ahh where to begin…

EXPERIENCE

Milwaukee is synonymous with Lake Michigan for me. So much of the cities energy and festival culture are attached to it. While here be sure to check out one of the many festivals. Summerfest, Polish Fest, Irish Fest, Italian Fest, German Fest, Indian Summer are a few of the favorites. This city loves beer, cheese and sausages, do not miss out. The Historic Third Ward is great part of town that is nearly all redone at this point and home to tons of great restaurants and shopping. The Milwaukee Public Market is a fun place to peruse as well. The Milwaukee Art Museum, with the impressive Calatrava is stunning, and a great place to start a walk along the lake. Check out the Miller Brewery, Harley Davidson Museum, Milwaukee County Zoo, Pabst Mansion, Brady Street and maybe even the Domes if you want a little horticulture on your visit. Also see a movie at the Oriental. And be sure to go to a Brewer’s game and tailgate, its like no where else.

STAY

While home I am with family, but the Iron Horse is a pretty great modern biker stop and boutique hotel– I would recommend staying. http://www.theironhorsehotel.com/

EAT

Brats! Usinger’s sausages! Leon’s Custard! Spotted Cow! Beer! Other great places to eat are Cafe Hollander and Balzac. Alterra near the lake is a must stop for a good cup of coffee.
