Beijing
Beijing, a place I always wanted to go, but found remarkably underwhelming in many ways.
EXPERIENCE
While here you obviously will have your heart set on seeing the Great Wall. It is everything you hope it will be and more, its totally and completely impressive. Other things not to miss are Tienneman Square
STAY
I think you’d be safe to choose from a myriad of hotels in this city. Like Shanghai, if you are willing to pay what seems a moderate price you will be treated absolutely fantastically and have service beyond imagination.
EAT
In Beijing we enjoyed several traditional family style Chinese meals. One of our more memorable meals was the Peking Duck dinner, which we arrived to on an exciting tuk tuk drive through the Hudong. We got dropped off in a back alley and followed a man for what seemed like forever down a dark corridor. Just as we were starting to feel completely uneasy about our choice, a man with a red and black painted face stepped out of the shadows, I let out a scream and clenched onto my coworker for dear life thinking this was the end…that’s when we realized our Peking Duck restaurant was a dinner theater, and we were being escorted in the back since our driver dropped us off on the wrong side of the Hudong.
